Project presentation in the framework of Greener European Regions workshop in Brussels

Esmartcity project is presented as a good practice by Abruzzo Region in the framework of Greener European Regions workshop in Brussels on October 8, 2019. The workshop is organized in the context of EU Regions Week focusing on regional strategies for development and climate adaptation.

Regions and cities are closely connected to citizens, and thus successful innovative projects can lead, through a bottom-up and inclusive approach, to enhance societal support for energy transition, which is a crucial element for a successful green transformation, resulting in the long term to global economy decarbonization.

The workshop is welcomed by Birgit Hone, Minister for Federal and European Affairs and Regional Development of the Government of Lower Saxony. Dr Robert Pollock, Senior Advisor at Secretariat of the Platform for Coal and Carbon Intensive Regions in Transition - ECORYS moderates the workshop and disussion.

Yvon Slingenberg, Director at European Commission DG Clima, sets the scene on what's ahead for: "A clean planet for All" EU strategy.

Iris Flacco of the Abruzzo Region presents Esmartcity and its pilot deployment relevant to Smart Street Lighting in Pescara, Italy.

Best practices in the fields of hydrogen and energy revitalization of municipalities are presented by Patrick Cnubben, New energy coalition, Netherlands, and Aleksandra Derejczyk, Lower Silesia Region.

Levke Johanna Deutsch, Max Planck Institute, Lower Saxony, introduces EcoBus, a demand-driven local public transport system.
