Enhancement of Smart Urban Living in Palmela, Setubal and Sesimbra

In Portugal ENA Energy Agency supports the sustainable development of Palmela, Setubal and Sesimbra. The region combines industrial activities, agriculture, tourism, natural areas, and wants to be a part of the energy transition.

The objective: Enhance Smart Urban Living in 24 public buildings of the cities.Energy Consumption metering devices will be installed in the municipal offices, culture hall, library and theater, in order to monitor and analyze in real time local energy parameters with report to a web platform.

This solution will allow to enable energy management and coordination services, to plan interventions and investments based on real needs. The solution is scalable and replicable in Portugal and the European Union.

According to Orlando Paraiba, ENA's Technical Director, "It only makes sense to make cities smart if the citizen is valued in his relationship with the city as a living space and in harmony with the environment. Based on the monitoring of energy consumption in public buildings, we will identify which energy use strategies are the most appropriate, seeking a rational use of energy."
